Jonathan David

Jonathan David is a young player, but even at this stage, he’s one of the best strikers in League 1 and one of the best young players in the world. After joining Lille last season, he managed to snatch a League 1 title in his first season.
Paris Saint Germain has won that title consecutively for many years now, but Jonathan stopped that streak. He stopped PSG, the team that featured big-name players like Neymar and Mbappe. For Lille, this will be the fourth League 1 title in its history.
Even the most optimistic fans of the Lille football club didn’t have hopes that Jonathan would arrive and have such an impact. After all, his only previous experience was accumulated in Belgium, which is considered to be a rank or two below the French League. Still, Jonathan had displayed dedication and instinct for scoring while playing for Belgian side KAA gent.
During his time in Belgium, he managed to score 26 times in 50 appearances. Those numbers are impressive even for grown-up strikers. Jonathan was just 20 years old when he achieved that feat. That’s why Lille signed him and paid a record-high fee of almost $40 million to secure the transfer. He continued developing while playing for the French side as well, and eventually helped them win a historic title.
Still, Jonathan wasn’t immediately successful in France. Perhaps this can be attributed to the need for adaptation. Eventually, he found his form and made up for the initial lackluster performance by scoring 13 times in the entire season. This is the most any Canadian has ever scored in major European competitions. Everyone who has played with David, or has observed his training is impressed by his work ethic and perseverance. Other players might’ve folded under pressure after failing to score for Lille for the first few games. Jonathan used that disappointment to motivate himself and become better.
Still, David is not the only Canadian player to impress in the European leagues. Canadian youngster Alphonso Davies has had even bigger successes at such a young age. He plays for the German side Bayern FC, one of the best teams in the world. What’s even more impressive is that Davies is the default choice for a left-back position at such a huge club.
Very recently, he and his Bayern teammates secured the ninth consecutive Bundesliga title for the team. Davies is not the rising star, he’s already a household name. In his three years at Bayern, he has already accumulated nine major trophies.
Cyle Larin, who plays as a striker for Turkish side Besiktas, has been impressive as well. He helped the team on their journey to win two major trophies in Turkish premiere.
There’s little doubt that the success of these amazing players is a sign of great promise for the Canadian national team. If you’re one of the Canadians cheering for our team to qualify for the world cup, you can sign up to Bizzo Casino Canada to experience the thrill of betting.
